Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center
Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center’s showpiece building “Folding Light” is the realization of a vision of award winning architect Rand Elliott and the project team at Rand Elliott Architects. At the center of its 4-acre campus in Downtown Oklahoma City sits a 4-story building with seemingly endless folds and angles, wrapped in shimmering satin metal fins. The project has been the recipient of many awards including the Metal Architecture 2021 Grand Award.
Artform was selected to provide design and engineering assistance in the development of a custom metal cladding system based on the design concept of random reflective metal profiles. General Contractor, Smith & Pickel Construction engaged Artform to develop a system capable of achieving the aesthetic, performance and budgetary requirements for the project. Artform developed a system of custom components in a rainscreen assembly that could be manufactured with a high level of efficiency and precision. While the solution was completely custom with a unique signature aesthetic, it was designed with fundamental rainscreen principles at its core allowing it to shed water, provide cavity ventilation and withstand extreme temperature fluctuations.
The Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center showcases Artform’s core strengths in custom metal facades. From concept design to installation, Artform was a turn-key partner for the project team. Artform’s services included product modeling and development, material selection, prototyping, budgeting, fabrication and installation.
